IRIZAR REINFORCES ITS POSITION IN ITALY WITH A NEW CONTRACT FOR 42 COACHES IN SARDINIA

ARST renews its confidence in Irizar and will have 252 Irizar i4 model units.

The public passenger transport company on the island of Sardinia, ARST, has once again placed its trust in Irizar; especially in its latest long-distance coach model to renew its fleet. This Italian operator has purchased 42 new Irizar i4 model coaches that will be made at the production plant in Ormaiztegi from where it sees to the entire European market.

For Irizar this contract means extending the agreement reached in May last year with ARST in which the company from Guipuzcoa managed to sell 210 Irizar i4 model coaches and whose first few units were delivered on the 15th of September last year in Cagliari. With this order for 42 units, ARST will shortly have a total of 252 Irizar i4 model coaches.

ARST is the largest regional passenger transport association on the island of Sardinia, with a fleet of more than 700 buses and is currently involved in a process of absorbing the other public companies on the island where it hopes to have a total of 750 buses.

The Irizar i4 coach model is designed to transport passengers over short and medium-length distances. This coach runs in large urban areas, in both the discretional and the regular sector, and expands and supplements the range of Irizar products. With this order, Irizar has sold more than 450 units of this model since it was launched in June 2007.

This new operation confirms for Irizar that it was right to develop and launch the Irizar i4 model that was presented to the Spanish and Portuguese market in June 2007, and in an international context, at the Busworld Fair in October in ther same year.
